The idea is simple, we need a well produced video on how one takes apart a Nintendo Entertainment System and cleans it. I happened to have a spare NES that I was getting ready to sell on eBay. Since it desperately needed a cleaning, I decided to use it as my subject.
I got a little over an hour of principle photography. I rolled that into my PC and discovered that my computer is too old to effectively edit AVCHD. Who new that a P4 2.4Ghz PC with 2GB of RAM wouldn’t cut it? Well, if I would have taken two seconds to think about it, I would have. So I had an internal debate. Should I get a new PC? I can’t make my widescreen HD video unless I get something that’s at least quad-core! But then I had an inner dialogue:
Inner Cheapskate: Convert it DV and edit it
Me: But then it won’t be in HD
Inner Cheapskate: You’re putting it on YouTube. How many hits do you think you’re really going to get? Who cares…
ME: Oh Yeah
So tonight I’ve begun the rendering to DV. Though I am going to maintain the widescreen aspect. Unfortunately this delays any editing for another two hours. I haven’t watched any of the footage yet so who knows, maybe auto-focus was on and going crazy the entire time and I’ll have to re-shoot everything.
[10:39pm] – edit
Did I day two hours? How about 8… {grumble}
